Salman Khan

I am a PhD Candidate at Harvard University studying education and social inequality. My research focuses on investigating inequalities in higher education and the labor market, specifically college access, financial aid, and the future of work. I draw on labor economics, the economics of education, and large datasets to identify the causal impacts of different policies in schools, colleges, and society.
At Harvard, I was a Stone PhD Scholar in Harvard’s Inequality & Social Policy Program, an IES-PIER Fellow, and an inaugural Research & Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid. I was named a Presidential Scholar by Harvard University, Semifinalist for the NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship, and Finalist for the AERA-NSF Dissertation Grant.
Prior to graduate school, I served as a school counselor, Admissions Reader at Stanford, and Data Fellow for the Strategic Data Project at the Connecticut RISE Network. I received my BA from Rutgers University and MA from Stanford University.
